Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri hosted Hamid Reza Haji Babaei, the Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) and the accompanying Iranian parliamentary delegation on Wednesday at the Parliament headquarters in Ain al-Tineh. The two sides discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and the outcomes of the inaugural session of the Asian–African Parliamentary Council.
Haji Babaei praised Speaker Berri’s effective and wise role in supporting the Resistance and in preserving Shiite unity in Lebanon. He said that all officials of the Islamic Republic emphasize the importance of Shiite unity in the present sensitive circumstances and appreciated Berri’s positive role in that regard. Haji Babaei expressed confidence that Lebanon and the Resistance will successfully pass this sensitive stage.
The deputy speaker also condemned the continued occupation of Lebanese territory by the “Zionist regime” and its repeated aggressions, asserting that the main policy of that regime rests on militarization and weakening neighboring countries.
